Hello,
I think the subject may have been discussed before but I’ve not found.
I am part of IGN France and we want to use the QGIS cutting tools.
But we need to have a notion of genealogy in the splitting. The largest object must retain our unique identifier, while the smallest object (polygon or line) must be considered as a creation, its unique identifier should be empty, and we need to have an attribute indicating its ancestor (the original object that was split).
Is there a way to set up QGIS cutting tools to take this into account? If not, we’re going to have to make a plugin with the same features as QGIS but that manages the genealogy…
Is that something that is of interest for QGIS user? Is it a common need?
I think it could be another way with one parent and two children? But it’s not our usual way of working for now..
Thanks.
Mélanie
