[pgrouting-users] Installation on Ubuntu

Hi there,

I've installed pgRouting on Windows before but not on Ubuntu. I'm not
very au faix with Linux at all to be honest. So I was wondering if
someone could point me towards some installation instructions for
pgrouting on Ubuntu? PostgreSQL 9.1 and PostGIS 2.0 are already
installed and running.

Thanks

James

In theory this:

https://launchpad.net/~georepublic/+archive/pgrouting

But I have had trouble with the packages showing up in 12.10.

Also, see the mailing list for 2.0 vs. 1.5 installation-- I think all you need to do is run the legacy.sql against your database, but I could be wrong.

Best,
Steve

Hi,

You should probably give a try with http://switch2osm.org/serving-tiles/building-a-tile-server-from-packages/

Doesn't work for me on 12.10, although I think I did it almost a year ago with ease on 12.04. Only osm2pgrouting shows up in the package list after apt-get update. For example, with gaul-devel--

sm@pp:~$ sudo apt-get install gaul-devel
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package gaul-devel
sm@pp:~$

Haven't tried a fresh install of 12.10 yet, but will be doing that this week.

Steve

Hmm, looking further, I see this note on the page:

“Multiverse” packages must be available as software sources. Currently packages for Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 are available.

I also see on this page:

https://launchpad.net/~georepublic/+archive/pgrouting

There's no package for quantal... . Oh well. So much for reading before jumping in... .

It’s right that there are no packages for 12.10 on Launchpad yet.
(a 6 months release cycle is just long enough to forget how building packages worked

But 12.04 is available and this is also the Ubuntu release used for OSGeo LiveDVD.

I’m not sure I will have a time to complete 12.10 packages before 13.04 is out, so I will probably build both at the same time.
