PhD Opportunity in Open-Source Geospatial Software and Computational Hydrology

HydroCS at New Mexico State University is seeking a PhD student interested in open-source geospatial software, computational hydrology, scientific computing, and reproducible environmental modeling.

Research topics include:

  • Open-source geospatial software development (GRASS, QGIS, and related ecosystems)

  • Computational hydrology and environmental modeling

  • Scientific cyberinfrastructure and reproducible research workflows

  • High-performance computing for large-scale geospatial analysis

  • Integration of physics-based and data-driven modeling approaches

Applicants with experience in Linux, Python, Git, open-source software, geospatial analysis, or scientific programming are especially encouraged to apply. Contributions to open-source projects (code, documentation, testing, packaging, community support, etc.) are valued.
