Presentation Templates

Hi Michael,
I added a link to the OSGeo template from the VisCom library section for people having a presentation at FOSS4G:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/OSGeo_at_FOSS4G2006#Talk_Presentations

Could you please confirm that this is the right link?

Thanks a lot,
Arnulf.

Yes, that's the right one. Be warned, though, that although the design is okay the implementation has issues -- you'll likely have to tweak the font sizes, indenting, bullets, etc, to make things look nice.

Whatever is tweaked should find its way back to the library. I would like to put that stuff into the VisCom SVN, we even have size issues, A4 and US-letter and will need to put in some effort to make sure that there are up-to-date versions for all languages. The documents & files of the CN structure does not provide enough information and linking possibilities. Sounds like we need to have a VisCom sprint. Anybody run for this? Maybe this can be done as an IRC meeting.

I'd love to help out on a sprint, but my time is very tight this week.
Arnulf, if you wanted to set something up I'll try to attend (as long as
it is not today or Wednesday).

Regards,

Arnulf, all,

given the time we have in these days, the situation is ok - the
template(s) work reasonably well. The rest we can resolve later.

Thanks,
Markus

Hi Arnulf, mpg,

I have fixed the (for me) annoying problem that "Times" font was
predefined in the template. Please update the template in the
OSGeo library, grab the new file here:

Thanks.

But let me suggest to delete "Presentation Template - v1.opt"
(I don't see any sense in keeping it) and rename
"Presentation Template - v2" to "Presentation Template".

Just one template should be enough.

I only did that because (I think?) the CN file system doesn't support
versioning.

Should just make a subdir called "OLD" or something, or just blow away
the old version and stop worrying?

"blow away the old version and stop worrying" is the correct process. We should try to keep the library concise and clean, it is already hard enough to find the required documents. There are already documents in other languages makign it even harder to keep track of what is going on. And there are some metadata fields that can be used during upload and there is a status (from draft to archived) that helps orientation.

I have no idea how this library might be managed using the drupal site. We should start working on that and get rid of the current thing asap.

Regards, Arnulf.
