Problem with export to TIF/GIF

Dear Grass users!

Im pretty new to GRASS and have the following question:

Is it possible to export a 3D view of a raster file directly to gif or tif
format, and how is this done?

You can use "nviz2.2" (image dump function). Currently it writes SGI image
format which can be read and converted by "xv" (a famous viewer).

The next release of GRASS 5 (GRASS 5.0 stable, coming soon) will include
an updated NVIZ which
- runs with tcl/tk8.3 libs (SuSe 7 etc.)
- exports in SGI, PPM and TIF format

The GRASS 5/CVS version already contains these updates.

Kind regards
