Progress Report and IRC Meeting

Folks,

I am interested in getting a status report on our utilization of the
telescience systems, and seeing what we can do to accelerate progress.

My vague understanding is that there are a few systems initialized with
Fedora Core 4. Furthermore that Howard has got the authentication via LDAP
working, but that there isn't an easy web based way for creating new users.
Is that where we stand now?

I would like to:
o Establish some roles for particular systems.
o Establish some security rules/procedures. Who can do what, which systems
need to be "very secure", etc.
o Get some initial services going including data distribution (with support
for WMS/WCS/WFS), and a working system for projects.

I am prepared to help out, for instance with "stack installs" though I am
a bit hobbled by my high latency connection to the net. I may also be able
to scare up some additional help if we are ready for it.

I think it might be helpful to have an IRC meeting. If you agree Norman,
could you schedule that? It doesn't need to be too formal, but should let
us get things going.

Best regards,

Hi,
we can throw in a few hours/week helping with stack installs too as
suggested before. I would be in for an IRC session too.

Arnulf.
