Wonderful news, we’re officially approved! :tada::partying_face: Our Canada user group is now listed at User Groups · QGIS Thanks to the QGIS.ORG PSC and MarcoS for their support.

Here is a message from Marco to the global community, please take note of our QGIS Open Day session, for this coming Friday at 6am Pacific / 9am Eastern / 10am Atlantic, where we introduce the Canada user group to the global community (apologies to those on the West coast, as we were forced to follow the organizer’s international schedule).

Hello from the QGIS org team:blush:. We have some good news to share: the community is growing! Recently, 5 new user groups were approved: Armenia, Cameroon, Canada, Croatia, and Cyprus, and more are coming soon.

If you’d like to learn more, in this Friday’s Open Day, we’ll share more QGIS updates + a special session with Tim Sutton on how the QGIS.ORG Foundation works, including the PSC, AGMs, and how new user groups are created. We’ll also meet two new groups: Cameroon and Canada.

You’ll find all the details on the QGIS Open Day wiki page on GitHub: QOD September 2026 · qgis/QGIS Wiki · GitHub

Good morning Jeff,

This is awesome!!! I can’t tell how happy I feel right now. This is the push we needed to motivate ourselves to keep going further and beyond!

Thanks for your implication and effort. I am sure without you it would have taken longer.

Congratulations QGIS Canada User group!!!
