[Qgis-us-user] [EXTERNAL] Re: QGIS VPAT Request

Hi all,

we received the following request on the PSC’s mailing list.

This is specifically related to US policy standard required for federal public administrations. This requires some declarative work and form filling task and then we need to upload it on QGIS website.

Is it a blocker for such administration not to have this VPAT forms available as QGIS is not really sold most of the time ?

If so, is anyone familiar with this would be motivated to maintain these forms up to date? Maybe some end user organization would be interested in funding or taking the task?

···

The examples in the wikipedia page seem to show that it is not that hard to maintain.

All the best!

Régis on behalf of the PSC.

As a volunteer-driven open source project, we always appreciate it when people and organizations step up to address issues or fund work on them. The VPAT seems like a prime example of an initiative for US based users to tackle.

For more information on how to help sustain the project, see https://qgis.org/en/site/about/sustaining_members.html

Anita

Thanks for the quick response Anita, in that case, we will have to pursue alternatives.

Dear Zach,

We had a thread on this topic last year: https://www.mail-archive.com/qgis-developer@lists.osgeo.org/msg54077.html

However, as far as I know, nobody has been following up on this task.

Regards,

Anita

Good morning,

Is there a current VPAT for the QGIS software? My organization requires section 508 compliance documentation before deploying in out environment. Thank you!

Hello,

In the past (2013), QGIS developer David Saeger filled one out (https://web.archive.org/web/20130509053144/http://www.qgis.org/en/about-qgis/vpatm.html). To update it, you can visit: https://acreditor.section508.gov/ and then click on “start a new report.”

If the information from the Saeger’s original VPAT is still valid, you could probably copy-and-paste much if not all of that information to the new form.

Would it be helpful if I drafted a new VPAT, and then presented it to you or another developer for inspection to verify that it’s correct? You could then post it for everyone. The caveat is that I would have to check with my institution first to make sure that I would be allowed to do that. But could this potentially help break the logjam?

Best wishes,
Josh

Josh,
That would be helpful.
