[Qgis-us-user] Trouble fully installing QGIS on Mac

Hello,
I’m no expert in Unix or Mac, but have been trying to install QGIS in order to process ASTER satellite images. The install of 3.22 LTR seems to go fine, though some error messages do show up, the one in red and yellow says:

2022-10-10T16:42:52 WARNING GRASS init error : Problem in GRASS initialization, GRASS provider and plugin will not work : Module built against version 2021-02-10T17:13:06+00:00 but trying to use version 2021-02-10T17:08:53+00:00. You need to rebuild GRASS GIS or untangle multiple installations.

And when I try to use Grass to work on the images, the input option is greyed out. If I go to Grass options, I get a message that it can’t find Grass.

I’ve poked around to see if I have multiple Grasses installed to no avail. I tried installing 3.16 LTR, but no change. I found a file called default.qgc that Grass seemed to want and gave the path in the Grass options dialog, but no change. That about exhausts my ability to trouble-shoot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Tom,

I am in the same boat (running QGis 3.22 on MacOS Monterey), but have not pursued a Grass fix. I just downloaded and booted GRASS-8 as a separate app.

I did find an install instruction under the “Contents” folder in the QGis app. I am attaching a pdf of that. I took a quick look at it and decided it was something I will figure out when I am forced indoors for a few days. There are much smarter people listening into this listserv who may be able to help you succeed.

If you have luck, please let me know. If I have luck installing it, I will let you know.

Jim
