[Qgis-us-user] US election data

Hi All,

would anyone have knowledge a source they can share to openly available geodata related to the recent US election ?
I have already US Census administrative boundaries (such as census tracts, bloc group , blocs or counties) and voting precinct geometries

now I am looking for information such as voter turnout and elections results (% or number of votes for each party) for the geometries above
Any leads or hints ?

Thanks so much

Have you seen Nathaniel Kelso’s Election Geodata github project? https://github.com/nvkelso/election-geodata Not sure if they have what you’re looking for yet for the recent election, but otherwise, you may have to get info from each county.

I think I saw somewhere that Kelso's project has been effectively
replaced by https://openprecincts.org/ but it doesn't seem to have any
2020 results yet.

I'd suggest looking at:
https://github.com/alex/nyt-2020-election-scraper
https://github.com/favstats/USElection2020-NYT-Results

Looks like that link below doesn't include the 2020 results. Sorry about that. I'm looking from my mobile. Since most of the election dashboards I've seen seem to be getting their results from the Associated Press, you might consider looking into using their API?

Good luck, and please do let us know if/when you find a solution.

You and about 50,000 others would like this. :grinning: I’ve been working this kind of analysis for my county for many years, but this data is usually not available until everything is certified and the poll records can be hand recorded directly into the databases for precinct-level analysis. This process takes weeks, so I typically wait a couple of months. What’s available now are the scrapes of many, many counties (still without precinct data, usually); all different formats; different naming conventions, etc. The media outlets have teams that scour these county-level records, but they don’t publish their data. The rest in the short term is polling interviews also done by the media outlets and surveyors.

The other fun is that the precinct boundaries often change and that process, too, takes a while to get published out.

All part of the fun. Please share back if you find anything!
