RE: [GRASS-dev] More efficient to use r.mapcalc or r.patch in a l oop for creating mosaics?

Would that really be faster, adding 60 r.out.gdal exports first? I'm
patching together Grass rasters, not image formats like tiff, etc. It seems
to me it would be better to keep the data in Grass raster format and just
mapcalc together (or patch, is there a difference?).

Maciek,

My particular installation doesn't have gdal compiled with Grass
support (yet), so I need another work around, hence r.mapcalc/patch.

Hmm, then maybe r.out.gdal first (this takes only Grass to be built with
Gdal).

Eric,

Please forgive me for missleding you - r.out.gdal DOES require GDAL
with Grass support! r.out.gdal is only a gdal_translate in a script!

Sorry for the mess!

As to Grass support in Gdal - can't you simply build the gdal-grass
plugin? Quick and easy. See WIKI for details.

Best,
Maciek
