RE: [VisCom] GRASS/OSGeo-Newsletter vol. 4

Wow. Very nice newsletter; lots of neat articles with good writing and graphics.

My only beef with it is that the OSGeo logo has been taken from a low-res source, has been somewhat squashed / out of round, the colours have been modified. There are all branding no-no's. Of course, the branding guide hasn't been published yet, so I can't complain too loudly

Dear OpenSource GIS user,

I apologise for cross-posting, if you receive this e-mail more than once.

The GRASS-News editors and OSGeo Promotion and Visibility Committee are happy to announce the first combined GRASS-News / OSGeo-News volume.

You can find the pdf (5.3 MB) on the GRASS webpage and in the near future also on OSGeo.org:

http://grass.itc.it/newsletter/index.php

or directly via:
http://grass.itc.it/newsletter/GRASS_OSGeo_News_vol4.pdf

We are looking forward to the first edition of OSGeo-News in 2007 with interesting articles covering various topics of OpenSource projects.
Please visit http://www.osgeo.org in the next couple of weeks to find more detailed information how to submit articles.

Please forward this announcement to related mailing lists and interested
colleagues.

best regards,

your GRASS and OSGeo-News staff

Strange that it looks bad for you - I used full res. graphics, added a mild shadow and the background but didn't change any colours! Maybe this is a PDF compression or viewer issue you are seeing? I hope it comes out for others as well as it did for me. Looks fine from my screen, but hopefully we can make it look right for everybody next time around. Thanks for the enthusiasm, the grass news team has done a great job on this.

Oh, I think I see what you mean now Jason. If you zoom in more than 100% it looks blurry, right. I wonder how it looks printed. We should have increased the resolution of the image. I treated it like a web graphic, it was probably only a 72dpi image in the end. Ooops...
