Is there any chance we can get awstats or similar log reporting tools to visualise where downloads are happening from? I'm thinking specifically of www.osgeo.org and the download.osgeo.org server logs.
Forgive me if this has already been discussed but I just wondered how easy/hard or time consuming it may be. MapGuide enjoyed some download stats before the migration plus I'd like to have some more information about our web requests. The other stat I have is that the main page of www.osgeo.org has been read 29555 time since we put it up! Not too bad, but that's not broken down into unique visitors or anything.
Any ideas or roadblocks?
Tyler
Hi Tyler,
If we got the access then we can do this.
previously we had done this on freemap server.
for ref. http://stats.freemap.in
and Also, do you want this mainly for osgeo.org or all the virtual hosts ?
Waiting for your reply.

I think it would be ideal for all virtual hosts and also the download server on telascience. Have you done this through drupal or using something else?

I see you used awstats, great. I’ve used it before and liked it.

Kanhaiya,
The logs for download.osgeo.org are in /etc/httpd/logs/download_access_*
and the logs seem to be "rotated" weekly.

In absence of any further discussion, can I assume SAC is agreed to pursue this feature?
Can someone with admin access get it installed - if so, by when? MapGuide in particular is used to having monthly stats from CN, can we match that need?

Any further progress on this? It's pretty important for the MapGuide project to supply metrics to ADSK on a regular basis (monthly).
Thanks,
Bob

Bob,
Tyler filed a ticket on the task, and I have turned it over to the
Indictrans guys to implement. You can watch status at:
