There has been much discussion on the MapGuide lists regarding OSGeo mailing list behavior. It seems some lists are configured with the reply_goes_to_list option set to reply tolist while others are set to reply to sender. Discuss and Board for example behave differently.
For consistency across the foundation should we make a decision at this level and make them all behave the same way?
My $0.02 is reply to sender by default. This is one instance where we can sometimes save people the consequences of not thinking.

Bob,
I don't particularly think we should be apply a rule to project mailing
lists. But I don't mind picking a setting for all general foundation lists,
with it perhaps being the default for new project lists.
Best regards,

I think consistency within the foundation lists with the same default for new or hosted projects is really what I am after. A project then has to choose to be different.

When creating a list the default is 'reply to sender'
A list admin would have to chose 'reply to list' or reply to explicit
address' to change it.

I have a pref for reply to sender by default as well since this is the least harmful option.
