[SAC] New LVM volume on osgeo4 QGIS VM

OSUOSL team,

We'd like to create a new 100G LVM volume and mount it to the QGIS VM on
osgeo4. A reboot is fine if needed, afternoon PST times are good for
that. We can format it once it's mounted (plan is for XFS).

I believe in order to make this happen the retired Backup VM needs to be
deleted from Ganeti.

Thanks,
Alex
OSGeo Sys Admin Committee

Ping - has this ticket been assigned to anyone?

Thanks,
Alex

OSUOSL Team,

This ticket is mildly urgent, the QGIS VM really needs more space for
their upcoming release.

Thanks,
Alex

PS: At some point we should discuss how to allocate more of these menial
tasks to OSGeo directly.

Alex,

I want to confirm with you that it is ok to remove the backup osgeo vm from ganeti. Note that data contained within that vm will not be able to be recovered once it is removed. Adding the disk should be fairly quick and we can let you reboot the vm at your own discretion if you desire.

Thank you,

After looking into it I realized that the qgis vm is on osgeo4 which has enough free disk space. I added the disk and need to reboot the machine within ganeti. When would be the best time?

Thanks,

Yes, I can confirm. We no longer use that VM now that we have a
dedicated machine in the rack.

PS: I'm on the IRC channel if there are additional questions.
