Do you have a link to an official document / mailing list thread showing
right of those addresses ?
Or can a board member confirm here ?

Comment (by EliL):

Mark is the co-chair of FOSS4G 2018, I consider him an authority for
anything on the topic of FOSS4G 2018. See for example details in SVN
listing him as co-chair.
https://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/foss4g/proposals/2018/TanzaniaFOSS4G2018LetterofIntent.pdf

You can also ask for confirmation on the conference list that Mark is an
authority for 2018. (or search the archives.)

Or note that he also opened this ticket, #1883

Comment (by Jeff McKenna):

Confirmed, please create the aliases for Mark.

Mark: can I suggest that you also request 2 new mailing lists:

  * foss4g2018@lists.orgeo.org (public discussions and sharing the passion
for 2018!)
  * foss4g2018-private@lists.orgeo.org (a private mailing list to handle
discussions within the local committee team - with no archives and not
publicly listed)

You might choose to use one of those down the stretch to the event,
especially the public one, as it's a great way to share news and allow for
general discussions.

I've found that the email blast system (of their chosing) is much better
than the public list for sharing news and promotion. In some cases the
public lists have seemed to create confusion.

In any case, do whatever the LOC decides is best for them.

Hopefully we can return to Mark's original request for FOSS4G 2018 Email
addresses and someone from SAC has time to work on it. Thanks for
everyone on SAC.

Best regards, Eli

Comment (by Jeff McKenna):

This is why i said it as a suggestion. It is up to the local committee.
It's important to give the local committee all of the options that past
committees have had.

Comment (by markiliffe):

Thanks for this - we’ve taken over the mailblast system from Boston, which
has quite a large amount of subscribers, we’ve also got a mailing list
sorted for LOC communications too, appreciate the suggestions Jeff - all
welcome :slight_smile:

Aliases foss4g2018-media@osgeo.org, foss4g2018-sponsor@osgeo.org,
foss4g2018-chair@osgeo.org, and foss4g2018-info@osgeo.org created
(analogous to #1267).

Addresses for 2018.foss4g.org should be handled on the server it's
pointing to (or a MX record would be required).

have tried various combinations, but what was actioned seems to differ

Comment (by jef):

Nothing new to add to comment:8. Only the aliases (like those from #1267)
were added:

{{{
# Per #2007
foss4g2018-media: msilikale05@yahoo.com
foss4g2018-sponsor: markiliffe@gmail.com, puntofisso@gmail.com
foss4g2018-chair: markiliffe@gmail.com, msilikale05@yahoo.com
foss4g2018-info: markiliffe@gmail.com, msilikale05@yahoo.com,
geoffrey.kateregga@hotosm.org
}}}

ie. `foss4g2018-media@osgeo.org` is forwarded to `msilikale05@yahoo.com`.

`2018.foss4g.org` is:

{{{
$ host 2018.foss4g.org
2018.foss4g.org has address 52.28.51.102
$ host 52.28.51.102
102.51.28.52.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer ec2-52-28-51-102.eu-
central-1.compute.amazonaws.com.
$ host -t mx 2018.foss4g.org
2018.foss4g.org has no MX record
}}}

I think we don't have control over that - at least I don't. So the
original problem was not solved - hence the ticket was not closed.

I need an official email address (forwarding) for the program committee
work. The most pressing is that Paul Ramsay has requested an email address
for the community voting. I twill also be used for handling other info to
us.

Request:

presentations -at- 2018.fossg4g.org --> ragnvald -at - mindland.com
