Apparently the NFS mount to osgeo6 was needed:
http://download.osgeo.org/osgeo4w is now 403
Reason:
{{{
root@download:~$ ls -la /osgeo/download/ | grep download6
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Oct 19 2017 download6/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Oct 19 2017 osgeo4w ->
download6/osgeo4w
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Oct 19 2017 qgis ->
download6/qgis
root@download:~$ ls -la /osgeo/download/download6/
total 8
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Oct 19 2017 ./
drwxr-xr-x 37 root root 4096 Mar 26 01:57 ../
}}}
... currently empty as the mount is no longer there, see

Comment:
NFS was removed from download and osgeo6. It was reinstated, but port
111 (udp/tcp) is now blocked except on osgeo6 from download and vice
versa.

Comment (by martin):
Running an NFS server on a publicly accessible machine isn't overly clever
from neither an IT-security nor -operations point of view and I'd wish to
emphasize that I strongly disagree with everybody installing their
favourite security risks on OSGeo's server infrastructure.
