#588: request for write permissions to add new svn members

Hi,

as community-team lead of the qgis project, I would like to be able to
grant write permissions for new manual contributors to the qgis docs
repository.

example:
https://www.osgeo.org/cgi-
bin/auth/ldap_group.py?new_member=<user>&group=qgis_docs&ou=svn

can you give me write permissions to do that? My osgeo id is dassau.

Thanks
  Otto

In general, SAC is not responsible for this type of change. Instead, any
member of the qgis_docs group can grant you this permission, by adding you
to the docs group. This way, SAC is not responsible for maintaining the
membership of the projects, instead leaving that up to the projects
themselves.

Please ask one of the existing members of the qgis_docs team -- timlinux
or gsherman seem reasonable candidates -- to add you to the qgis_docs
group, at which point, you should be able to add other users to the group.

If there is some technical problem causing this solution to not work,
please let us know, and we will investigate.

Best Regards,
Christopher Schmidt

I see that timlinux misunderstood the situation when he responded to your
email on the qgis list. He should be able to add you to this group. I have
let him know this, so that hopefully he ecan help you out.

Christopher,

ok - thanks, but just to be clear again - it is not that i need write
access - i have. I want to be able to provide write access to other users
/ contributors. Still a task for Tim?

dassau:

You have commit access because you are a member of the 'qgis' group, which
presumably has repository-wide access. You are not a member of the
qgis_docs group; until that is the case, you can not add others to the
qgis_docs group. Once you are, you will see an "Add" button at the bottom
of the group page via which you can add people through.

Asking an existing member of the qgis_docs group is the way to get into
that group.

timlinux points out that 'odassau' is a member of that group, but 'dassau'
is not; which name are you currently using?

Comment:

It is not convenient to delete old osgeo id's. However, you can cease so
use them. It may also help to edit the entry using the standard tools,
and change the name to indicate that it is deprecated. The edit mechanism
is at:
