The awstats installation on the projectsVM is incomplete. I tried for a
while to fix it but apparently I am missing something.

I put the previous config file for GRASS in
/etc/awstats/

Perhaps there were more projects which had been hosted on the crashed
xblade14 telascience machine but their config files got lost.

A fix + reprocessing of the logs would be great. Thanks.

We actually have copies of the old logs on backup. Now that I've taken
care of Downloads awstats I can take a shot at the projectsVM. If other
projects want theirs reinstated please let me know.

The GRASS logs go back to 2002, please let me know if your backup is less.

I've attached a list of the awstats backup we have, it goes back to 2002
but does not cover all months in 2002.

Hi,

slightly offtopic but I notice there's a perl process on the projects VM
which has been running at 100% cpu since 29 March (openlayers). Expected
or when good cron jobs go bad?

I've moved all of the old awstats into place from Markus' home folder on
Projects.
Now I'm running a script (attachment:awststats-historical.sh) to rerun all
the logs that haven't been run yet. Might take a day to catch up.

Using ./awstatshistoric.sh grass.osgeo.org grass.osgeo.org-access_log 10
It takes 3 args and should be universal enough to handle processing other
projects old awstats.

Once this is done running I will add the cron job to do at least a daily
run of awstats (depending on the amount of traffic I might make it 2-3
times a day), all of which is nice -19.

Awstats can be viewed for the grass project @
http://grass.osgeo.org/stats/
The end / is necessary, strk and I haven't found a way around that yet.

Comment:

GRASS is now 100% up to date and awstats is being run via cron 2x a day
with nice to keep it from affecting services. If any other projects want
awstats please open/reopen a ticket to let me know.
