Not sure if anyone is overseeing the gallery.osgeo.org site - but I've had
a few reports of spammed links on there. I'm tempted to shut it down
unless someone is able to have a peek.

it is <30, and so not impossible to clean up by hand.
currently it just requires to pass the captcha? what if an osgeo account
was needed
as well? (it would not stop it, but at least a higher barrier to entry, so
maybe they
go elsewhere, or would allow to delete by user name of submitter)
is there an admin version where besides (edit) (permalink) you get a
(delete) button? if so that would make it pretty fast/efficient to clean
up, and I'd be happy to do it. I notice that for some they have reused our
graphics with their links.

Thanks for offering to help Hamish. Unfortunately I can't find a way to
access the admin side of the application. It is a django app and I can't
find where it is hosted. It looks like it's hosted on the "webextra vm"
but I don't see any signs that it is running there - eg. the database
there is old.

A ping shows the DNS still points to a telescience server. My suspicion is
there were plans to move it but that never finished.

I tried to remove the spam today. The gallery is hosted
webextra.osgeo.osuosl.org
in /osgeo/gallery-site. The content is in a sqlite DB in that directory.
I have installed sqlitebrowser on that machine, the DB opens. Only, I
don't
understand in which table to find the content (in order to remove the spam
rows).

I don't see any files there that have been updated in 2011 - I thought the
service was on a telascience blade. I'm ready to pull the DNS until
someone is able to fix this.

Correct the DNS points to 198.202.74.219 which is Telascience.
There might be a copy on webextra - maybe someone intended to move/upgrade
it there but it does not appear to be live on the machine.
