[SAC] OSGeo3 Bios Update Tomorrow (6/3)

Today the QGIS vm went down again for the 2nd time this week. Talking
with OSUOSL they took the host offline and did a BIOS update which they
think should fix the problem. It took Backup, Projects, Adhoc and QGIS
offline for about 20-30 minutes.

OSUOSL would like to do the same process for OSGeo3 tomorrow at
UTC 20:30
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20110603T1330&p1=217&am=30

Please let me know if there are any objections to this scheduling.
Downtime should be ~30 minutes.

Thanks,
Alex

I'd propose to stop _all_ OSGeo VM's, those on'osgeo4' as well, while
the update is in progress so user's don't run into authentication
errors while the LDAP directoy is down.

Cheers,
  Martin.

Please don't do that. The majority of osgeo services do not require authentication. If we're concerned about confused state, we can restart after the update, but broken authentication is better than unavailable services.

I agree, osgeo4 should stay on - the majority of project sites are on
osgeo4 and much of their use does not require login.

Should we send an email out on OSGeo-Discuss saying that login services
will be down along with trac/svn, and the wiki for ~30 minutes today?

Thanks,
Alex

For sure that would be a good idea, please indicate the time then with
