[SAC] osgeo6 dist-upgradeable ?

While looking at upgrading mailman:
https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/1577

I realized osgeo6 (the machine running mailman) is still
an old-old-stable (Debian 8, aka Jessie).

Was there a previous discussion about upgrading to current
stable (debian 10) or old stable (debian 9) anywhere ?

Not to my knowledge. I suspect if it was discussed it would be an open ticket in trac.

Can I create an lxd snapshot of osgeo6 before you proceed with any dist upgrade?

Thanks,
Regina

We should consider if this is the right time to migrate mail from osgeo6 into a container.

Thanks,
Alex

Can we be sure that the GRASS Wiki survives?

Shall it be moved elsewhere?

Thanks

Markus,

strk decided to go with compiling mailman from scratch rather than risk breaking other things on osgeo6 doing a dist-upgrade which still would not get us the latest mailman version.

I’m in the middle of creating a container version of osgeo6 (similar to what I did with adhoc and tracsvn) which we’ll use for the time being to synch all the data of osgeo6 (on daily basis I am thinking) and also to test any upgrades we do on the final.

As far as wiki I was thinking you could eventually move it to your grass container – we can up the disk on that if you need it so that way it’s all self-contained or build a new container for it.

Either is fine with me.

Anyway no super rush at the moment.

Thanks,

Regina
