Alex, SAC,

It seems that it's not the first time that there is confusion about how to handle domain renewals. The best solution for the future may be to share responsibility for domain renewals between SAC and the treasurer.

At the moment I do not get the renewal notices, so if treasurer at osgeo could be added to the dnscontact at osgeo email alias then I would receive them, and could coordinate with SAC to proceed with paying for the renewal when we get a notice.

Let's also keep in mind that future treasurers may not be as comfortable as I am with managing domains, that's why I think it is important that SAC remains involved in the renewals and we do not make that the sole responsibility of the treasurer.

What do you think?

Daniel

P.S. I am subscribed to the SAC list but the mails go to a folder that I am not always on top of, so if anyting happening on the list needs my attention please do not hesitate to ping me directly.

Folks,

I have renewed postgis.net for five years. I had originally set the registration at 1 year in the hopes we might be able to return to postgis.org as the primary domain.

As requested, I have added the treasurer@osgeo.org address to the dnscontact alias so that the treasurer will be notified of billing related information.

Now that there is a card associated with pairnic, SAC members (on dnscontact - Alex, myself and Howard current) should be able to renew stuff as needed. If anyone else would like to be on the dnscontact alias let me know.

Best regards,
Frank

Hi Frank,

I didn't receive a copy of the renewal confirmation/receipt (need it for accounting). Did you receive one, and to which address? Can you please forward it to me?

Thanks

Daniel,

Sorry, my mistake. I forgot to run “newaliases” after updating the /etc/aliases file. I have forwarded you the billing statement seperately.
