On that page there was also some more vandalism by 'GenGari' and 'Fabiano',
could you give them the same treatment?

(does that automatically remove other spam they have spewn, or do those
edits have to be unwound manually?)

thanks,

also, could you double check & then ban these spam accounts:

Apollosan
DanielBurrowes
Imeugene72
Tudor2
Eumila
Techrahul
Margaret88
Grantsmith6
Okawards

I cleaned up their junk at wiki.osgeo.org except for these pages:
(ran out of energy)

  Special:Contributions/Apollosan
  India

Many more are easily identifyable at:

Once the connection to LDAP will be possible, a major
"wiki washing" of accounts will be needed.

Is something like this: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ConfirmAccount now in place?

3 or the first 5 on the list of active users were spammers with uncleaned
edits. sigh.

I reluctantly agree.

(what's the strategy after that? do they then try to register spam
accounts into osgeo IDs?)

I don't think so, this are common Mediawiki bots...

I guess so, because (at least last time I checked) the OSGeo LDAP
account creation doesn't require any identification or confirmation
either

Cheers,

Markus / Martin / Hamish,

If need be we will add confirmation for LDAP signups, but it is hard
to imagine it being worth anyones while to configure a bot for our
idiosyncratic process. If they are willing to do it manually they can
circumnavigate anything we do.

Best regards,
