Hello all,
This is a test by mail
Creating a new topic on this category
Regards
Try and be consistent with GeoServer (not Geoserver)
Did I mess up in the group name, the category name or the subcategory name?
Oh, I see, was the message, I edited it now, there is no problem
Thanks! One thing did not think about that having “GeoServer” with a single subcategory “user” is a little confusing. Do any other categories just have a single subcategory?
I still see this on the pinned topic:
For people interested in Geoserver.
Questions, as I am trying to write up instructions clearly:
-
I am a bit confused by the categories: geoserver-user or geoserver-users ?
The user interface says “GeoServer” / “user”:
The URL “geoserver/geoserver-users”: user - OSGeo Discourse
The notes you provided indicated email to
geoserver-user@discourse.osgeo.org
would work. Was this not going to begeoserver-user@osgeo.org
? -
For the category we have the logo, and then the text “Communication line with GeoServer.”
Where does this come from?
-
I have reports that Peter cannot reply to this topic? It is intended as a public forum so he should be able to reply, or does he need to join the group or something …
Adding these questions to #3104 (geoserver-users SF mailman to discourse?) – OSGeo
Yes, you need to join the group before reply is available.
Tested and confirmed that geoserver-user@discourse.osgeo.org
is the one that works.
And this one does not work:
Your message wasn’t delivered to
geoserver-users@osgeo.org
because the address couldn’t be found or is unable to receive email.
Hi Vicky, please also fix the capitalisation on the Geoserver users - OSGeo Discourse page:
Also, (adding to this post, since I can’t post 3 times in a row):
Can we standardise on the singular version, please. i.e. we’d need to fix this URL https://disco__urse.osgeo.org/c/geoserver/geoserver-users/51 → https://discourse.osgeo.org/c/geoserver/geoserver-user (or preferably https://discourse.osgeo.org/c/geoserver/user)
Yeah, its confusing, but you want the category to be in singular.
The group is a group of people so I used plural.
g/geoserver-users
On mailman we have with plural like fdo-users Info Page
Slugs are lower case.
This is a group (of people) that is why I used plural
This is a nested category
GeoServer category (slug: geoserver)
User subcategory (slug: geoserver-users)
I can change the slug
c/geoserver/geoserver-users
to c/geoserver/geoserver-user
But it can not be camel case.
Without the category number:
https://discourse.osgeo.org/c/geoserver/geoserver-user
With the category number (51):
https://discourse.osgeo.org/c/51
https://discourse.osgeo.org/c/geoserver/whateverYouPrefer/51
https://discourse.osgeo.org/c/WhateverYouPrefer/51
all those options will take you to the same place
Will change the slug to user
https://discourse.osgeo.org/c/geoserver/user/51
Discourse slugs seem to be lower case, sorry.
This email came through as “Vicky Vergara via OSGeo Discourse <
noreply@discourse.osgeo.org>” rather than geoserver-user@discourse.osgeo.org as
expected / documented.
I am signed up for notifications as instructed, what am I doing wrong?

For discourse slugs wanted to make it the same as the name “user” not “users”, and email “geoserver-user@discourse.osgeo.org”. It is the difference between singular and plural that we wish to be consistent.
Testing email notifications and I am not getting anything? Are these settings correct?
