We are currently in the process of redesigning the website for OSGeo:UK. We quite like the design of the OSGeo website and would like to adapt a similar layout.
The main priorities for the new site is that it should be easy to maintain via Pull Requests. Ideally through a web interface eg Github. We already have a github account and would like to continue hosting the website via Github Pages for ease of setup.
We would like to integrate our newsletter in the page to provide an archive for previous editions.
We’d like to integrate a members form for members to sign up.
A local careers section would be nice to have.
I looked at a few dozen pages for local chapters listed here: Local Chapters Archive - OSGeo
There is obviously a huge variety from wordpress pages using open templates to masterly handcrafted react pages.
Going forward we will probably build our new page with Astro. Given time restraints I will have to use some AI tools. I simply do not have the time to manually write markup and CSS rules.
I’d be happy to use a template if there was one for OSGeo Local Chapter pages.
The reason for this topic is to collect ideas in regards to an easy maintainable page for Local Chapters and the possibility to create a template.
We are particlarly interested how other Local Chapters allow members to sign up.
