I want to say thank you to all the geoserver/geotools people. We’ve done the upgrade to the 3.x series this month, and it was probably the most boring major upgrade I’ve done in a long time. It’s just chugging along.
Performance is more or less the same. It seems to be a bit more CPU-efficient, but that might be the OS (Ubuntu 22.04 to 26.04) or tomcat (9.x->11.x) upgrade that was done at the same time, hard to tell.
Excellent, that is exactly what we were aiming for, a seamless upgrade (with some minor exceptions cited in the upgrade guide).
A lot of effort went into making that possible, doing a ton of changes without breaking backwards compatibilty is actually quite hard.
Hey, I’m preparing a “State of GeoServer” presentation for FOSS4G NA… can I quote that sentence of yours in the slides?
